Mario Martinez is based on unceded ancestral lands of the Duwamish/Muckleshoot/Stillaguamish people. “Looking up what Indigenous land I was on led me to find a way to support and recognize the original tenders of this land are that still here. I am filled with gratitude to be making art here, but by no means is justice served by me simply acknowledging. Imagining(and building) a better future for future generations is great, a dream of mine, but a bigger dream is seeing justice NOW.”
